About this website
ozen.live is the website of Ozen, a free, non-commercial, open-source project. It's run by an individual developer, @arbelonski. Ozen is made for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, and we want everyone, including people with disabilities, to be able to use this site easily and independently.
Our target
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and the Israeli Standard IS 5568 (based on WCAG 2.0 at level AA), in line with the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 5773-2013.
This is a target, not a claim of full conformance. The site hasn't been audited by an external accessibility consultant, and we keep testing and improving it.
What we've done
- Light text on a dark background, with high contrast throughout.
- The whole site works with the keyboard alone, with a clear outline on whatever is in focus, and a "Skip to content" link at the top of every page.
- Pages are built for screen readers: a clear heading structure, marked page regions, labelled links and buttons, and text alternatives where an image carries information.
- The language of every page is declared, so screen readers pronounce it correctly.
- The moving 3D phone on the home page can be paused at any time with the "Pause animation" button in the header, which stays at the top of the screen.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, the animation stays paused from the start.
- The animation is decoration only. Everything it shows is also written in the page, and it's hidden from screen readers.
- Text uses Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed by the Braille Institute for readers with low vision.
- Text can be enlarged with the browser's zoom, and the layout adjusts to phones, tablets and computers.
Parts that may not be fully accessible
- The links to GitHub and TikTok lead to sites we don't control.
- Some parts may still not be fully accessible. If you find one, please tell us.
Contact us about accessibility
Found an accessibility problem, or need something from this site in another way? Email arbelonson@gmail.com.
It helps to include the page address, what went wrong, and the assistive technology you use (for example, your screen reader and browser). We aim to reply within 14 days, and to fix problems as soon as we can, and in any case within 60 days.
Accessibility coordinator and premises
The site is run by one person with no employees, so there's no separate accessibility coordinator. Please write directly to the email address above. The project has no premises open to the public, so there are no physical accessibility arrangements to describe.
